Roseann's Statement

In 2011, Roseann Spinale Mark (Artist/Owner) opened Dock View Gallery, Provincetown, MA after many years of working as a painter and interior designer. She came to Provincetown when she graduated from college and before graduate school at the University of North Carolina. Over the years, she lived along the east coast and became involved at various levels in local art organizations as teacher, judge, art group participator and program developer.

Her most noted achievement was the Medford Art Council, Medford, MA which entailed classes in painting, clay and drama for both adults and children, an annual arts festival on the Mystic, Art in the Parks, The Mystic Players, et. al. She received commendations from the Massachusetts Cultural Commission, the City of Medford and the Massachusetts Legislature.

Her travels, archeology, mythology and connections to her “ extended” family in Italy maintains her awareness and respect for nature and emotions brought to bear by the feel of the basic elements, such as earth, water, etc. Their history comes from a long tradition of caring for the land in order to survive. Through this connection, the artist maintains the gallery's goal is to provide an opportunity to present long and short term working artists to the public.

The greatest artistic influence while growing up in Baltimore were the many hours spent alone at the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum in N.Y.C. When the BMA began to show the “break away emerging” artists of the 60’s, the groundwork was laid for the intellectual and emotional approaches to her work.

All work is available for giclee fine art prints.

Robert's Statement

Robert Callahan established himself as a leader in the world of miniatures early on in his career. Fashioning one inch scale reproductions of period furniture and accessories his work was featured in numerous publications including LIFE magazine. Recognized by collectors and museums for his precise detail his work was added to many collections around the world. Robert*s recent work pays homage to those early years by painting miniature landscapes of Cape Cod on antique ivory piano keys.

Using scrimshaw, the traditional maritime art form, Robert creates fine details in the work. He then painstakingly watercolors the sky, seas and sands of the lower cape that he calls home. Each work is unique as the *grain* in the ivory reflects thru the paint. These miniature works of art draw the observer in to them to take a closer look, just as the Cape draws us to it.
